It is very frustrating when you see a cold sore erupt when you are least expecting it. If it is your big day and you see a cold sore appearing on your face, you could use a concealer to hide it. However, there are a number of factors to keep in mind as you use make-up to conceal your cold sores. To begin with, don’t try this tip if your cold sore is scabbed over. Also it needs to be at least partially healed before you apply the concealer. This is because cold sores will ooze in the beginning and if you try hiding them, you will only end up making them more prominent. Here are a few tips on how to use a concealer to hide your cold sore: The concealer you use must be creamy and not liquid. Creamy concealers are usually very concentrated and are available in tubes, jars, etc. You can do with a very little amount of concealer. If the sore is very red, use two shades of concealer. Yellow base will neutralize the redness and then a concealer of your skin tone will hide it. Use a make-up sponge to apply the concealers and start with very little quantity so that there is no cakiness. After applying the yellow concealer make sure you dust it a little with finishing powder before dabbing on the second concealer. Dust it lightly again. Cold sores are contagious. This is why you should be very careful about your makeup products. Don’t contaminate them and use only disposable brushes and sponges.
