Natural Highlights! Kritika Ponia November 22, 2011 Beauty Do you love highlights? Why not go out of the box this summer and do something at home instead of hitting the parlour and spending oodles on highlights? Surprised? Don’t be! There are indeed a number of things that you could do at home to have natural, chemical-free highlights. Listed here are just a few of these ways: Lemon: This is the best hair highlighter. All you need to do is mix ¼ cup fresh lemon juice and ¾ cup water. Pour this in a spray bottle and spray it on your hair. Remember not to spray it over your scalp. Keep it limited to your hair. Leave it on for 2 hours and make sure you are out in the sun for at least half an hour. There should be no lemon on your skin when you go out in the sun. It could cause your skin to blister. Lemon could have a drying effect on your skin. So make sure you condition your hair before as well as after. Honey: Honey may be super sticky but it highlights your hair well. You could even apply it straight without mixing anything. Simply leave it on for two hours. You could also mix honey, lemon and water in equal ratio and spray it on from a spray bottle. Your hair must be damp when you apply it and you should stay in the sun for two hours. You will of course need to wash your hair thoroughly for all of the honey to wash off. Honey not only highlights your hair, it also gives it a lot of bounce. Chamomile Tea: You can get golden highlights with chamomile tea. All you need to do is boil the tea and let it cool. Shampoo and condition like you always do and then use the tea to rinse your hair. Spend approximately an hour in the sun. Repeat this regularly and your hair will have amazing highlights. Olive oil: Olive oil is not just a good conditioner. It does a lot more than that. All you need to do is comb copious amount of olive oil into your hair and then spend an hour in the sun. Do this thrice a week and stop when you get the highlights you wanted!
