Fitness experts have always recommended stretching.

Things About Stretching That You Must Remember

Stretching is an excellent way of loosening your muscles and improving blood flow. When you stretch, your body becomes flexible, as a result of which you feel better automatically. While stretching for general purposes is recommended, it is an absolute necessity for those who exercise. Whether you run or perform aerobics, stretching is what you should begin your fitness regime with.

However, there are things to keep in mind about stretching so that you don’t go wrong and end up injuring yourself.

  1. If stretching makes you hurt, you are doing it wrong. Stretching should make you feel comfortable and relaxed as opposed to giving you pain. Therefore, if at any point you feel pain, you should stop. Adjust your position and re-start in a gentle manner.
  2. Don’t rush. Stretching should be done slowly and steadily. Once you get into position, stay steady for a while, and then shift position. Don’t bounce from one to the other.
  3. Each position should be held for around 30 seconds.
  4. Stretch everyday. If you stretch once a week or twice a week, it will barely make any difference. Start off by stretching every single day. After you get in sync you can reduce it to thrice a week.
