Breastfeeding is not just for infants. It is completely okay – and even recommended – that you continue breastfeeding beyond the age of 1.

3 Tips On Breastfeeding Your Toddler

However, there are a few parents who even breastfeed their preschoolers. Again, this is nothing unusual and if you wish to, you could do the same. You just need some confidence and some support to be able to see this through.

  1. You are not the only one. There is no need to feel lonely and may be even weird just because you breastfeed your preschooler. If you feel like you are the only one you can connect with other parents either in your locality or on social media and blogs.
  2. Don’t be afraid to breastfeed in public. Other parents who only feed their babies may frown but this will help you and your toddler calm down. Preschoolers may need breastfeeding when they are frustrated. Comfort your little one regardless of what people may think. When they realize that you are actually caring for your little one, they will be on their way without scowling.
  3. Your child will understand you, which means you can set limits for her. You can make her understand that you can’t feed her while standing in line for something. She may fuss but if you are firm she will listen to you.
